Lucifer

from $35.00

Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness. Evil incarnate with horns, a tail, and a face of nightmares, right? That’s what the church officials in Liege thought they were getting when they commissioned a sculpture by Guillaume Geefd in 1848. They had already received a sculpture by his younger brother, but was considered… well.. too “distracting” to the church. This sculpture was its intended replacement. However, older brother Guillaume wasn’t thrilled at their dislike of his brother’s work. So his sculpture was even more…. Again, “distracting.” Perhaps the true title of the sculpture, “The Genius of Evil” is more appropriate. At least if one considers revenge, evil. Often referred to (not by the clergy) as “Sexy Satan.”

Images with framed art are for illustrative purposes only. Frame not included.
